Independent pubs, restaurants and cafés across North Yorkshire could benefit from a new £10 million Hospitality Grant Scheme launched by the Government to help hospitality businesses grow, innovate and strengthen their role within local communities. The three-year scheme opened for applications earlier this month and is designed to support projects that create new hospitality ventures, bring vacant premises back into use and provide training opportunities for people looking to build careers in the sector.
The funding aims to help businesses adapt, expand and invest in their future while supporting local economic growth. The scheme builds on a successful pilot programme that funded hospitality training projects and initiatives to improve productivity through innovation and technology.
More than £3 million of the funding has been earmarked for Pub is The Hub, an independent organisation that helps pubs in rural and disadvantaged communities diversify their offer through services such as village shops, community cafés, play areas and other activities that support local residents.
Hospitality businesses play a vital role in North Yorkshire's economy, creating jobs, attracting visitors and providing important community spaces. The new fund offers an opportunity for businesses and organisations to explore projects that support long-term growth, resilience and community benefit.
